Education and Care Consultant
Joanna (preferred Jo) is our newest education and care consultant. Jo recently relocated to Tasmania from the Hunter Valley, NSW, where she held a position with TAFE NSW working in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley teaching and supporting learners completing their Certificate and Diploma Qualifications. With years of experience teaching and working with educators, families and children, Jo began her career as a primary/preschool teacher in the UK. She has run a local playgroup in Melbourne as well as working at the University of Melbourne’s Children’s Centre, and has experience in Out of School Hours Care. She most recently ran play sessions for families and children and engaged learners to volunteer at the Shine for Kids project at Cessnock Correctional Centre.
A highlight of Jo’s professional career was working with Kosovar refugees evacuated to the Singleton army base. Her most recent experience of vocational teaching and training will continue to be a focus in her role with Gowrie Training and Consultancy.
Jo’s areas of interest and educational focus include:
- natural outdoor play
- nurturing of children’s creativity
- school aged children
- quality teaching practices.
