DESCRIPTION:Enabling confident and capable children \n“There is something really special about woodwork. It’s so different from other activities. The smell and feel of wood\, sounds of hammering and sawing\, hands and minds working together to express their imagination and solve problems\, the use of coordination; all go together to captivate young children’s interest. It proves a truly unique experience.” Pete Moorehouse \n  \nThis three-hour workshop will enable participants to build practical skills and confidence\, whilst developing a deeper understanding of the benefits of woodworking with children. A wide variety of tools and resources will be supplied to maximise this learning experience. \n  \nWorkshop participants will consider: \n\nwhy woodwork in the early years?\nadult’s roles in supporting learning\nWorkplace Health & Safety and understanding risk\nuseful tips – what you need\, where to purchase and how much it will cost\nproject work with children.\n\n  \nThis workshop will leave you with: \n\nknowledge of tools suitable for different age groups and how to use them safely and effectively\nconfidence in promoting the benefits of woodwork to families and colleagues\na clear understanding of processes essential to delivering quality woodworking experiences in early years settings.\n\n  \nFacilitator: Scott Gibson \nCost: $75 (excl GST & admin fee) \n\n  \nREGISTRATION FORM HERE\n\nThe National Quality Standard: \nQA 1.2.1 Educators are deliberate\, purposeful\, and thoughtful in their decisions and actions. \nQA 2.2.1 At all times\, reasonable precautions and adequate supervision ensure children are protected from harm and hazard. \nQA 3.2 The service environment is inclusive\, promotes competence and supports exploration and play-based learning. \nQA 5.2.1 Children are supported to collaborate\, learn from and help each other. \n  \nAustralian Professional Teaching Standard: \nAPTS 3.3.2 Select and use relevant teaching strategies to develop knowledge\, skills\, problem solving and critical and creative thinking. \nAPTS 6.2.2 Participate in learning to update knowledge and practice\, targeted to professional needs and school and/or system priorities. \nAPTS 6.3.2 Contribute to collegial discussions and apply constructive feedback from colleagues to improve professional knowledge and practice. \n  \n
