The risk of no risk for 3-5 years – Launceston
March 28, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Start the year with a focus on creating a risk-based program that will benefit both adults and children!
Developing a risk-based program for young children.
For many of us, playing outside, usually in nature with no adults in sight and taking risks was an everyday part of childhood. However, what we took for granted as children, has changed so dramatically that we now have children spending more time indoors than any other time in history due to rapid urbanisation, increased screen-time and a growing culture of risk aversion.
This 2 hour evening workshop is suitable for educators, service leaders, teachers and principals working with children 3-5 years of age.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore:
- why young children need to take risks
- how to support risk taking with young children in Long Day Care, Family Day Care, school or home environments
- adventurous activities for young children
- adult’s role and responsibilities
- developing a benefit risk assessment
- strategies for bringing families, managers and educators on board
- advocating the importance of risk taking
The session is designed to be adaptable for all early childhood settings and contexts.
