Enhancing the role of the outdoor leader
At a time where children are spending more time indoors than any other time in history it is vital to bring in a focus on the outdoors and get children outside!
This workshop will be facilitated by Scott Gibson who will share and discuss the potential offered by natural outdoor environments for rich learning experiences. You will experience the great outdoors first-hand whilst considering how you can realistically develop a nature program for young children.
Held within a local bush-land environment we will be exploring the following themes:
- The limitless potential of nature as a teacher
- Exploring challenge and adventure through the six categories of risky play
- Identifying and responding to children’s play and learning in nature
- Leading in the outdoors
- Developing an intentional program that supports inquiry, wellbeing and resilience in young children
This workshop will leave you with:
- deeper understanding of how to support and respond to children’s free play in wild spaces
- insight into how learning takes place in nature
- confidence in communicating about the benefits of scrapes, bruises and getting dirty in the outdoors
