Discrimination – North

Organisations in Tasmania, regardless of size are required to adhere to Federal and State relevant Acts. Whether you are an employer, or employee (including casuals, contract workers, part-time and/or full-time), it is important to be aware of your rights and responsibilities.
This 2 hour session will support directors, managers and educational leaders in their understanding of ECCC services responsibilities. Information gained within this session will also support services to develop effective and meaningful policies and procedures which are reflective of rights and responsibilities.
– A brief overview of Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Federal)
– A brief overview of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 (Tasmania)
– Direct and indirect discrimination
– Rights and responsibilities for all employers/employees
– Stereotyping – Unconscious Bias/Conscious Bias
– Exceptions and exemptions under the Act
– Discussion regarding ‘unjustifiable hardship clause’ what does this mean?
Please note all participants are required to bring a copy of your services enrolment form, together with copies of current policies in particular relating to ‘Inclusion or Diversity’. Please note your service policies won’t be shared with the group and will only be used for your own reviewing purposes during the session.
